The Fernwood community is full of diversity. Let us celebrate it. Together we believe learning about each other allows us to build connections.

What is Cultural Night?

On Friday, March 20, 2020, we invite Fernwood families to showcase their culture through food, crafts, fashion and dance.  This will take place inside the school’s gym and cafeteria.

Fill this form to participate in our Cultural Night.

What are we looking for from you?

We are looking for families of all cultures to participate and showcase their unique traditions at a table where you can show and tell about your culture through your poster boards and other items (examples: crafts, games, maps, foods and videos).

  • Poster board showcasing your country- Your poster board can include a map, pictures, languages, ceremonies, religions, celebrations, or anything else you would like to share with our families at Fernwood. (Remembering this is for our elementary school kids) We ask that you be there to answer questions about your culture during the event.
  • Food samples- Please bring a signature food dish or “small bites” from your culture that you would like to share. We ask for at least 200 sample bites. Food cups, small spoons and napkins will be provided by PTSA. Allergy information will be completed at table set up.
  • Parade of Nations – Join our fashion show of nations. We will line up children and/or parents, by countries of origin, to walk down a catwalk hosted by our Dean of Students, Tracy Bickhaus. There will be an opening ceremony showcasing each represented country.
  • Book DonationsWe are adding to our book room and want to add some books specifically related to learning about cultures or various cultural artists. If you have suggestions, please include them on your registration form or email Stacey Hutchison  directly.
